Mumbai

Day 1

Formerly known as Bombay or Mumbai is an amalgamation of seven islands Colaba, Mumbai, Mazagaon, Old Womans island, Wadala, Mahim, Parel, and Matunga Sion. The Portuguese called the islands "Bombay" meaning "Good Bay". These islands were ruled by the Hindu dynasties, the Muslims and then were presented to King Charles II in 1661 as part of the dowry when he married Princess Catherine de Braganza of Portugal. Bombay was handed over to the East India Company in 1668. It started growing as a trade center owing to shift of the shipbuilding industry from Surat. The opening of the Suez Canal after the American Civil War enabled export of cotton from Bombay.

The ancient city of Aurangabad is located in the northern part of the state of Maharashtra in the western region of India. It is 403 km away from Mumbai and is encircled by hills. Situated on the banks of the Kham River, this historical city is famous for its medieval monuments and cultural heritage. Aurangabad was an important seat of the Mughal Empire for a short period. Thus, the city has many monuments speaking volumes about the grandeur of the Mughal architecture. Take a travel trip to important monument sites at Aurangabad, Bibi-Ka-Maqbara, Panchakki, Himroo factory and Aurangabad caves are most important among them.

Saputara

Day 8-9

Saputara is a beautiful and a densely wooded only hill station town situated in the "Dang" district of southern tip of Gujarat, India. Saputara has been constructed as a well planned hill station having all necessary serviceableness like hotels, boating parks, swimming pools, club, ropeways, theaters and a museum providing the tourists an delightful vacation in the coziness of the hill station. Saputara is about 170 kilometers from Surat and about 80 kilometers from Nashik. The border of Maharashtra is about 5 km. away from Saputara.

Day 11

Modern Baroda is a great and fitting memorial to its late ruler, Sayaji Rao Gaekwad III (1875-1939 AD). It was the dream of this able administrator to make Baroda an educational, industrial and commercial centre and he ensured that his dream would come true. Baroda is situated on the banks of the river Vishwamitri, whose name is derived from the great saint Rishi Vishwamitra. The city was once called Chandravati, after its ruler Raja Chandan, then Viravati, the abode of the brave, and then Vadpatra because of the abundance of banyan trees on the banks of the Vishwamitri. From Vadpatra it derived its present name Baroda or Vadodara.

Ahemdabad

Dasada

Dasada or the Little Rann of Kutch, which covers an area of roughly 5,000 square km, is primarily known as the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary. The sanctuary was established in 1972 as the last natural habitat of the Indian Wild Ass (Equus Hemionus Khur). One of the three surviving species of the Wild Ass in the world-the other two being found in Central Asia and in and around Tibet-the Khur is high on the list of endangered species.

Bhuj

Gondal

Gondal is a testimony to the great visionary ruler Sir Bhagwatsinhiji, who introduced social reforms, planned the development of Gondal town and created a model state of Saurashtra in late 19th and early 20th century. Gondal, the capital of the former princely State of Gondal, was ruled by the Jadeja Rajput clan, till the independence of India. It is a fortified town located on the river Gondali.

Visit Gondal palaces, Royal Palaces - the Riverside Palace and Orchard Palace are converted into heritage hotels, see several vintage and Classic cars in the royal garage, Two Royal Rail saloons of the Gondal State.

Sasan Gir National Park
